CVS is Most Penalized Retailer in Massachusetts
The Boston Globe has described CVS as "by far the most penalized of any retailer" in Massachusetts when it comes to fines for overcharging customers and other pricing violations. The chain racked up more than one fifth of all the fines issued by the State’s Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation for breaking state pricing accuracy rules during 18 months in 2007 and 2008, according to a Boston Globe analysis. The agency cited CVS for nearly 2,800 violations and imposed more than $275,000 in fines. A CVS spokesperson described having to change price stickers and shelf price labels as items go on sale as problematic.
